The African South - Day 5 - Swakopmund - Etosha NP

After a good night’s sleep, we left Swakopmund in a chilly 8Β°C πŸ˜„ Then came a 500 km drive north – through Arandis, Ebony, Usakos, Omaruru, and Outjo – to just before Okaukuejo, about 10 km from Etosha National Park. Our destination: the beautiful Toshari Lodge πŸ†πŸ˜πŸ’πŸ…πŸ›πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

The road stretched endlessly straight ahead, cutting through barren but fascinating landscapes. We passed the Erongo Mountains and even caught a glimpse of Spitzkoppe in the distance ⛰️

A real highlight: the countless termite mounds 🐜🐜🐜🐜 – true master builders of nature!

Fun fact: In northern Namibia, many towns start with the letter O. For example, Okahandja means β€œfat cow” πŸ„ and Omaruru means β€œsour milk” πŸ₯›

In the south, cities are more often named after historical figures.

After a delicious dinner 🍲 featuring gnu, oryx, and kudu, we wrapped up the day at the bar 🍹🍹🍹 – and then… 😴
