The African South - Day 12 - Victoria Falls - Nata

The last two days we actually got to sleep in a bit 😴.

Today, however, meant two border crossings – from the Victoria Falls back to Kazungula. Exit Zimbabwe ZW, entry Botswana BW.

And once again, we had to walk through the disinfection trough in our shoes πŸ‘ŸπŸ˜•. Of course, the officials made sure we did it again – this time with our second pair of shoes πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ.

In Botswana, all animals roam freely πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ – cattle, πŸ‘, 🐐, 🐘, πŸ¦’, 🦁, πŸ¦“ – so they take foot-and-mouth disease prevention seriously here.

We drove south through Pandamatenga and Matlamanyane to Nata, our stop for the night: the Elephant Sands Lodge. 🐘

When we arrived, it felt like 50Β°C in the sun 🌞 – no shade anywhere πŸ˜€.

The tents were just as hot inside as outside – no air conditioning, just a fan… which, of course, we first had to fix πŸ˜…πŸ˜….

But what a view: elephants right outside our door! 🐘 They gathered at the waterhole – or what’s left of it. We’re sitting just ten meters away, sipping on our 🍹 Mojitos, watching these magnificent giants. ❀️
